The reach is adjustable to 12 m or 5 m by tilting the multi-lens. Additionally, the sensor can be adapted to its environments by fitting the provided shrouds.
The time- and twilight-threshold are continuously variable via rotary controls.

The Steinel Multi-Lens
The reach is adjustable to 12 m or 5 m by tilting the multi-lens. Additionally, the detection zone can be reduced and adapted to the specific conditions by fitting the provided shrouds.
Due to their body temperature humans radiate heat. Infrared technology uses this radiation to detect motion and to react accordingly.
The Way it Works
The heart of this technology is the so called pyrosensor. This electronic module reacts to any changes in the infrared heat radiation within its detection zone, for example when a person enters the zone of detection. This causes a voltage jump, which then is transformed into an electronic impulse, which switches the light on and off.
The reach of infrared sensors depends on the direction of movement. With tangential movements (parallel to the sensor) the reach is about 12 m on average, which is shortened when moving directly towards the sensor (radial movement). To attain the maximum reach the optimal mounting height of 2 m should be given.
