Lindy Cameron to lead National Cyber Security Centre

A former international development mandarin who has served in conflict zones has been appointed head of the National Cyber Security Centre.

Lindy Cameron will take up her role at the operational division of GCHQ in October. She has more than two decades’ experience in national security policy and crisis management. It is her first intelligence role but she has worked in Baghdad and Kabul for the Department for International Development (Dfid) and in Helmand for the Foreign Office.

Ms Cameron is a specialist in post-conflict reconstruction

She is a specialist in post-conflict reconstruction and has worked closely on the ground with officers from Britain’s intelligence agencies and the military.

She is the second most senior civil servant at the Northern Ireland Office, a position she took up last summer.
